City of Las Vegas and MobileHWY deploy Mobile INSPECTOR™ to improve customer service of 6 departments city-wide

Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) – June 04, 2007 – MobileHWY announced today that the City of Las Vegas is deploying the Mobile INSPECTOR™ Enterprise software solution to automate and eliminate some of the paper-based inspection processes used today across several departments.  MobileHWY’s Microsoft® .NET solution initially will support upwards of 1,000 inspections per day for approximately 60 inspectors in Code Enforcement, Fire and Rescue, Public Works and several other departments.  Pat Dues, Enterprise Program Manager for the City reports, “We can now provide higher levels of service to our residents and businesses while controlling costs and meeting the growing demand placed upon field and office personnel.”

When the City of Las Vegas began the search for a mobile solution to improve service in the field, they were seeking a solution that could be implemented across multiple departments from a single, easy to support client / server installation.  Also of high priority to the City, was that the solution interface to their Oracle® database running Hansen® and to do so utilizing Microsoft® .NET-based technologies.  MobileHWY met these stringent requirements.

Immediately upon project initiation, the MobileHWY team recognized variations and similarities between the workflow requirements for the various departments within the City.  However, the challenge put forth by the City’s project manager, Diane Santiago Cornier, was to deploy an enterprise solution that would enforce necessary differences in business rules and yet standardize their approach as much as possible.  She stated that, “To get the biggest bang out of the solution, we knew we had to get these departments talking with one another and discovering where commonality was and how to maximize that.”

The combined team, of MobileHWY and the City, then worked collaboratively to configure a unique set of workflows in the Mobile INSPECTOR™ product that provided a base template of functionality for all the departments with user and group configuration options to manage variations.  The resulting effect is that field employees are now able to spend more time in the field and office personnel will spend less time on redundant data entry and paper-based processes.

MobileHWY and the City of Las Vegas plan to embark on another phase in the summer of 2007 to further tailor the solution to support each department’s specific needs as well as to incorporate enhancements based on end-user feedback from actual use in the field.  “We strongly recommend that our customers gather feedback from their end-users during the first few months.  Getting that real-world feedback is critical for our team so that we can enhance the user experience and better prioritize their requests,” states Lisa Slonim, MobileHWY’s Vice President of Operations.
